Bone Voyage

Sept. 2018 - July 2019

Bone Voyage is a team project developed during my study at Breda University of Applied Sciences in Breda.
The team is composed of 30+ third-year students of Art-, Design-, Audio- and Programming disciplines.

  • Released on Steam
  • Over 63k downloads as of July 2019
  • Made in Unreal Engine
  • Winner of INDIGOx Award 2019.
  • What I have contributed:

  • Implementing the animations for all characters such as their movement and dialogue actions
  • Implementing the basic movement of the Player and most of its core abilities
  • Providing the base for the Camera systems used in tight spaces
  • Implementing objects that the Player can interact with such as the ladder and quest items that can trigger dialogue or story events/cut-scenes
  • Enabling the developers to call dialogue specific animations during dialogue

  • What I learned:

  • Using C++ for the base structure of classes and Blueprints for implementing the logic
  • Utilizing Actor Components containing the logic for the abilities of the Player
  • How to implement the animations provided in the movement of the characters and their dialogue actions
  • Developing a narrative driven game within a big team and working with dependencies and project structure
  • Conducting code reviews to ensure that I and the other Programmers, are inline with the conventions we have set up and agreed to.

  • What I used:

  • Unreal Engine 4
  • Visual Studio
  • C++
  • Perforce
  • Jira
  • Swarm
